Kounter-move – noun.- a move or other action made in opposition to another.
Kountermove 'cracked the code' on combat sports fantasy in a way that's never been done before; we are the world's #1 combat sports fantasy community. We offered our first fantasy mixed martial arts games in late 2011, with a full public launch in the fall of 2012.
Kountermove counts top names in mixed martial arts as partners including Sherdog, Bloody Elbow, MMA OddsBreaker, Fight Network, SportsGrid, Fantasy Sports Network, Renato Laranja, Natasha Wicks, and Tommy Toe Hold.
Kountermove fantasy games cover UFC, Bellator MMA, World Series of Fighting, Invicta FC, WWE, GLORY kickboxing, and Metamoris Pro Jiu-jitsu. In 2015, Kountermove will add boxing games and more combat sports leagues into the fold. Fantasy MMA will become a core part of the entertainment experience and a key driver of engagement in live events as it is with football and baseball today.
Kountermove is like fantasy football or baseball, but for MMA. Fans win cash prizes by picking teams of MMA fighters in salary cap-style fantasy games. Beyond that, it also provides a compelling entertainment platform for in-depth interaction between fighters and fans.
Our founders, Aaron Ard and Brian Knapp, are Jiu-jitsu black belts and IBJJF competitors. Ard and Knapp run all day-to-day operations of the company. Christie Sullivan heads Kountermove’s communications and marketing. Sullivan is an internationally ranked IBJJF Jiu-jitsu competitor and women’s instructor based out of San Francisco.
Kountermove is a leader in the MMA niche of a booming fantasy sports industry. The Fantasy Sports Trade Association (FSTA) estimates roughly 36 million people in the U.S and Canada played fantasy sports in 2013. The FSTA also estimates participation in fantasy sports has grown by over 60 percent in the past four years. (Source: http://www.fsta.org/industry_demographics).
What People Are Saying About Us:
Brian Hemminger (@gotahemmi) of MMAMania.com ~ "Kountermove goes above and beyond the current MMA fantasy options. It forces you to take a deeper look at every match up, strategically pick the most viable upsets and not only pick who you think will win, but how badly. With real time updating of statistics and points, Kountermove kept me on my toes until the final fight of the night."
